Part 145 Repair Station

A Part 145 repair station is an FAA-certified (or, under EASA, Part-145) maintenance organisation authorised to perform and sign off specified maintenance, repairs and alterations. Using an approved station with the right ratings for your aircraft type is central to keeping it airworthy and preserving its value and records.

Why it matters: a Part 145 repair station is a maintenance organisation certificated in its own right, with approved capabilities, trained staff, quality systems and regulatory oversight. The certificate defines what the shop is approved to do — airframes, engines, avionics, components — through its ratings.

When selecting an MRO, verify that its approval actually covers your aircraft type and the work in question, and — for internationally operated aircraft — that it holds the foreign approvals your registry requires. Work performed outside a shop's approved scope creates documentation problems that surface at audit or resale.
