How charter pricing works
Charter is billed by flight hour for the whole aircraft, so the class you choose is the biggest lever — a turboprop and an ultra-long-range jet can be an order of magnitude apart per hour. On top of flight time come federal excise tax, fuel surcharges, landing and handling, and catering, plus repositioning when the aircraft isn't already where you are.
For occasional trips, on-demand charter is usually the most flexible option. As your hours rise, a jet card, a fractional share or ownership can each become more economical — which is exactly the trade-off worth modelling before you commit.

How much does it cost to charter a private jet?
Charter is priced by the hour, and the rate depends on the aircraft class: roughly $2,000–4,000/hr for a turboprop, $4,000–6,000 for a light jet, $6,000–8,000 midsize, $11,000–16,000 for a heavy jet and $16,000–23,000+ for ultra-long-range. What's included in a charter price — and what isn't?
The hourly rate covers the aircraft, crew and standard operating costs. Added on top are taxes (US FET 7.5%), fuel surcharges, landing and handling fees, catering, and sometimes de-icing, overnight crew expenses and repositioning ('ferry') time when the aircraft isn't already where you need it. Peak days and one-way trips (which may incur repositioning) cost more. The calculator bundles typical taxes and fees into the all-in range.
Is the price per person or for the whole aircraft?
Charter is priced for the whole aircraft, not per seat — so the cost is the same whether you fly with two passengers or fill the cabin. That's the key difference from a scheduled or semi-private per-seat product. Dividing the all-in cost by your passenger count gives an effective per-person figure for comparison.
