Overview
Hawker was a business-jet brand rather than a single company, with roots in the British Aerospace 125 (originally the de Havilland/Hawker Siddeley DH.125, first flown in 1962). The modern "Hawker" name dates to 1993, when Raytheon acquired British Aerospace's corporate jet business and consolidated it with Beech Aircraft under Raytheon Aircraft.
The line's core product was the mid-size Hawker 800/800XP, a direct descendant of the BAe 125, complemented by the light Hawker 400 (derived from the Mitsubishi Diamond via the Beechjet 400) and the composite super-midsize Hawker 4000. In 2006 the business became Hawker Beechcraft.
Hawker Beechcraft filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and emerged in 2013 as Beechcraft Corporation, discontinuing jet production to focus on turboprops and piston aircraft. Textron acquired Beechcraft in 2014, folding it into Textron Aviation. The Beechcraft name survives; the Hawker jet brand does not.
