Overview
Honda Aircraft Company is an American manufacturer established in August 2006 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Company, headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina. It was founded to develop and produce Honda's light business jet.
The company's product is the HondaJet (HA-420), a very light business jet notable for its over-the-wing engine mounting, which reduces drag and frees cabin space, along with a natural-laminar-flow wing and carbon-composite fuselage. First customer delivery took place in December 2015, and the type became a strong seller in the light-jet segment, with successive Elite variants.
Honda Aircraft has delivered several hundred aircraft to customers across dozens of countries, and is developing the larger HondaJet Echelon (HA-480), a light jet aimed at longer range and greater cabin capacity. Founding president and CEO Michimasa Fujino, who led the aircraft's development, retired in April 2022.
