Overview

LET Kunovice, now trading as Aircraft Industries, is a Czech aircraft manufacturer founded in 1936 in Kunovice (then Czechoslovakia), originally as part of the Škoda Works. It has built powered utility aircraft, trainers, regional airliners and a large range of gliders.

The company's most successful product is the L-410 Turbolet, a nineteen-seat twin-turboprop regional and utility airliner, of which more than 1,300 have been built and which remains its flagship program. Its larger L-610 transport reached prototype stage in 1988 but never entered full production. In the glider field, its L-13 Blaník is among the most-produced sailplanes ever made.

Ownership has changed repeatedly, passing through Ayres, Moravan and Aircraft Industries before Russia's UGMK (Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company) acquired control in 2008. Amid the sanctions environment following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, ownership transferred to the Prague-based Omnipol Group in 2022, under which the company continues to operate.
