The CFM International LEAP-1A is CFM International's turbofan powering jet propulsion for airliners and business jets. First run in 2013, it is a current-generation design. It produces 32,200 lbf of thrust.

The CFM International LEAP-1A is a high-bypass turbofan developed jointly by CFM International (a GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines joint venture) for the Airbus A320neo family. It incorporates ceramic matrix composite (CMC) components in the combustor and high-pressure turbine for improved thermal efficiency, along with a 3D-woven RTM composite fan. The engine delivers significant fuel burn improvements over its CFM56 predecessor and entered service in 2016. Its applications include the Airbus A320neo, Airbus A321neo and Airbus A319neo — and an engine's installed base matters commercially, because a widely flown type means deeper parts availability, more shop options and better residual liquidity.

For a turbofan, the commercial questions centre on fuel efficiency relative to the generation it competes with, the maturity of its support network, and — for any individual unit — its position in the shop-visit cycle, since a heavy shop visit is one of the largest single costs in aviation.
