About the Citation CJ4 Gen2
The Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 is the largest and most capable member of the CitationJet family, and it carries the weight of the best-selling business-jet lineage in history. For operators already inside the Citation world — shared crews, training, maintenance relationships — it offers continuity advantages that can outweigh a slightly smaller cabin than its closest rival, the Embraer Phenom 300E.
The CJ4 trades a little speed for a little range: it is rated at roughly 2,165 nautical miles with a high cruise near 451 knots, is certified to 45,000 feet, and is approved for single-pilot operation. It runs the proven Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite — older in concept than some touchscreen rivals but stable, well understood and familiar to a large pool of pilots, which lowers training friction for operators transitioning within the Citation range. The Gen2 update refreshed the cabin with improved seating, lighting and connectivity.
The CJ4 Gen2 is the rational pick for a buyer who values the Citation support network and crew familiarity, or who is expanding an existing Citation fleet. Backed by Textron's extensive, long-established global service infrastructure, it is one of the most predictable light jets to own and operate. Buyers cross-shopping it against the Phenom 300E should weigh cabin size and resale (where the Phenom leads) against ecosystem continuity and the depth of Citation support in their region.
