R66 Turbine

The Robinson R66 Turbine is a five-seat light turbine helicopter that bridges the gap between Robinson's piston helicopters and larger turbine aircraft. Powered by a Rolls-Royce RR300 engine, it offers superior high-altitude and hot-day performance compared to piston alternatives. It is the most affordable turbine helicopter in production and is popular for personal, charter, and EMS roles.

About the R66 Turbine

The Robinson R66 Turbine is Robinson's step up from the piston R44 into the turbine world, and it brought the company's hallmark simplicity and value to the light turbine-single class. A five-seat helicopter powered by a Rolls-Royce RR300 turbine, it offers more payload, better hot-and-high performance and higher operating altitudes than the R44 while keeping acquisition and running costs well below larger turbine singles.

Its cabin adds a fifth seat and a sizeable baggage compartment, and current examples are available with Garmin glass avionics. Turbine power brings smoother operation, jet-fuel availability and the reliability that many private owners and light commercial operators want as they move up from piston helicopters.

The R66 fits owners and operators who want turbine reliability and useful load at the most accessible entry point in its class — private travel, light charter and utility roles. Buyers needing twin-engine redundancy or a larger cabin will look to a Bell 407 or light twin; those wanting an affordable, capable turbine single consistently choose the R66.
