About the H160
The Airbus H160 is a clean-sheet, new-generation medium twin-engine helicopter and Airbus's technology flagship in the class. It introduced distinctive canted Blue Edge main-rotor blades that cut noise and boost lift, a biplane stabiliser for stable low-speed handling, and a large canted fenestron, all managed through the Helionix avionics suite with a four-axis autopilot.
Designed from the outset for oil-and-gas transport, private and business aviation, emergency medical services and public-service missions, it seats up to twelve in a quiet, spacious cabin and emphasises low sound levels, low vibration and reduced maintenance. Entering service in the early 2020s, it represents the current state of the art in the medium category.
The H160 fits operators who want the newest technology, refinement and cabin comfort in a medium twin — offshore crew change, corporate transport and demanding public-service roles. Operators with established fleets and lower budgets may prefer a proven AW139; those prioritising the latest ride quality, noise and efficiency gains choose the H160.
