About the AW169

The Leonardo AW169 is a light-intermediate twin-engine helicopter and the newest, smallest member of Leonardo's AW helicopter family, sharing a common cockpit and handling philosophy with the best-selling AW139 and AW189. Designed as a clean sheet rather than a derivative, it targets operators who want modern technology and cabin flexibility in a more economical package than the AW139.

Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW210A engines with full-authority digital control, it seats up to ten and offers a flat-floor cabin easily reconfigured between EMS, VIP, offshore and law-enforcement roles, with a modern avionics suite and a four-axis autopilot. Its size and efficiency place it between the light twins and the intermediate class.

The AW169 fits operators who want AW-family technology and a versatile cabin without the size and cost of an AW139 — a strong fit for HEMS, corporate and parapublic work. Buyers needing maximum cabin and payload will still choose the AW139; those prioritising efficiency and flexibility favour the AW169.
