The Airbus A220-100 (formerly Bombardier CSeries CS100) is a narrow-body, twin-engine jetliner optimized for routes of 500–3,400 nautical miles. It entered service with Swiss International Air Lines in July 2016 and features advanced composite materials, new-generation Pratt & Whitney PW1500G geared turbofan engines, and a wide 2-3 seating layout for a single-aisle aircraft. The A220-100 targets 100–135 passengers and delivers up to 25% lower fuel burn per seat versus previous-generation jets.
